The ConvaTec GentleCath™ male straight tip intermittent urinary catheter (manufacturer reference 501003) is an uncoated (non-hydrophilic) PVC/vinyl catheter designed for intermittent self-catheterization. Its 16-inch length is suited to male anatomy. It is available in 12 FR, with a rounded tip and heat-polished drainage eyelets to reduce friction during insertion, and a colour-coded connector by size for quick identification. Since it is not pre-lubricated, this catheter must be lubricated separately (water-soluble lubricant) before insertion, unlike self-lubricating hydrophilic catheters such as the SpeediCath line.
