Canada Post restores all service levels for domestic parcels
On January 6, Canada Post restored on-time delivery guarantees and all service levels for domestic parcels. Our network is stabilized and we are ready to serve your business.
We appreciate your patience over the past few weeks as we worked to safely restore our operations while managing the high volumes of the holiday season. We added extra weekend hours to process all the backlog of packages, which we are now delivering nationwide.
Although we have caught up in processing packages, our network continues to handle high volumes of Transactional Mail and Neighbourhood Mail™ items.
Here's what our return to normal means for your business:
Domestic package
• On-time delivery guarantees have resumed and are in effect for items deposited from January 6, 2025 onwards.
• The changes to on-time delivery guarantees will remain in effect for the remainder of the peak period, i.e., until January 12, 2025.
• Our service levels for processing and delivery have returned to normal nationwide, including in rural and remote areas.
• We have caught up on all the backlog in our returns department and will process new returns according to our usual processing times. All return labels created on or after October 15th will remain valid for 45 days.
Transactional mail
• We are continuing to process backlogs of domestic Transaction Mail items in addition to new volumes being filed. Therefore, customers should continue to expect delivery delays of several days beyond our standard service level for commercial Transaction Mail.
• We will inform you of when we expect to return to our usual service standards for Transactional Mail items.
Neighborhood mail
• As a large number of Neighborhood Mail items still need to be processed and delivered, delivery delays of several days should be expected.
• We will keep you updated on our progress and when we expect to return to normal service standards.
• Our priority is to deliver items within our network, and we are not yet ready to resume scheduled Neighbourhood Mail deliveries. We will notify you as soon as we are able to resume this service.
Mail and parcels under the international regime
• We continue to process the backlog of international mail and parcels at a good pace.
• We are speeding up processing, but customers should expect a delivery delay of several days for items arriving under the international scheme.
